My name is Olha Hnatiuk. I am an artist from Ukraine who has devoted her life to art.
For the past two years, I have been living in Germany, where I continue my creative work. In my paintings, I focus mainly on themes of female identity, the beauty of nature, and the strength of the human spirit.
Education and Experience
I received a professional art education, but over time I became increasingly drawn to questions of human personality and inner life. This led me to study psychology and later integrate that knowledge into my artistic practice.
In Ukraine, I worked in a rehabilitation center for children with disabilities, where I practiced art therapy with children and their families. This experience deeply enriched my artistic vision and opened new perspectives for me — especially regarding themes of inner strength, resilience, and hidden beauty. At the same time, I remained actively involved in the art world, presenting my work in numerous exhibitions.
What My Work Is About
Female identity
In my paintings, I explore the world of women — their destinies, thoughts, desires, and struggles. Through portraiture, I aim to make a woman’s inner world visible and tangible, revealing her complexity and quiet power.
Harmony of nature
For me, nature and wildlife are symbols of balance and truth. Through my paintings, I tell stories about the connection between humans and the natural world, drawing attention to its fragility and beauty.
Overcoming challenges
Life confronts us with difficulties, but it also gives us the strength to overcome them. In my work, I try to capture hope, determination, and the quiet triumph over adversity.
Why I Make Art
In my art, I reflect on tolerance, aesthetics, and humanity. I see it as my responsibility to preserve values of kindness and beauty in our collective consciousness. At the same time, I cannot remain silent about what destroys us — the destruction of nature, prejudice, disregard for women, and war. Painting is my way of addressing these realities and inviting reflection and change.
I am not simply a person behind an easel. I see myself as a director of emotions and experiences. I am also an art therapist.
How I Work
It is important for me to express not only inner harmony, but also restlessness. I speak about passion and strength, about protecting one’s energy and not dissolving into the surrounding world. Even in emotional storms, it is essential to remain oneself.
Color, for me, is a language of the soul. When I add shades that may seem unexpected, they carry my thoughts about the complexity of life — the contrast between what we show outwardly and what we keep inside. I am not afraid of bright colors, because they hold both tension and release.
My painting style is freedom. I do not aim for rigid lines; I allow myself to improvise and feel. It is a living flow, constantly changing — like life itself. Through both soft and expressive brushstrokes, I try to convey movement and emotion.
When I paint, I let go of control and trust the process. Each brushstroke is a dialogue — with myself, with the world, with what I feel in that moment. I do not focus on what the painting should be. I simply create.
And when the work is finished, I see that it is more than an image. It holds my thoughts, my experiences, and my ongoing search for harmony and acceptance.
